Are you heading to Anaheim soon and wondering what to wear to Disneyland in July? If you are heading to the happiest place on Earth, be prepared for some hot days in southern California. The summer months are a great time to head to Disneyland Park, as temperatures are not quite as hot and humid as at Walt Disney World in Orlando. I am sure you will have a great time at Disneyland Resort, but to have the best time, be sure to keep reading my packing list on what to wear to Disneyland in July.

Is it hot in Disneyland in July?
As a general rule, June, July, and August will be the warmer months for Disneyland. The daytime temperatures range from between 80 to 90 degrees Fahrenheit. You may have some chilly mornings in the early mornings and perhaps cooler temperatures later in the evening. In general, the average high in Anaheim is around 85 degrees. The average temperature for a daily low is around 65 degrees during the month of July.
The most important thing is to remember to check the weather forecast in the week leading up to your trip. California weather can be a bit fickle, so double-checking the forecast the week before your Disneyland vacation is always a good idea.
Comfortable Shoes
Comfortable shoes are an essential part of a visit to Disneyland Park. Leave your high heels at home! It is always a good idea to try out your shoes before your visit to Disney parks. It is not a time to try to break in a new pair of shoes! A good option that I always pack for a Disney vacation is a pair of good walking shoes, like Nike or Brooks.
It’s also a great idea to pack a pair of shoes like quick-drying sandals. If you want to ride the water rides or catch a sudden summer shower, having a pair of Teva and Keen sandals really helps keep your feet comfortable during warm days in long lines.
Planning to spend some time at water parks during the warmer weather months? Consider purchasing some water shoes, especially for your kids, for long days at the water parks during the summer heat.
If you are anticipating some pool time away from the amusement parks, throw some flip flops into your bag. They are a good choice for the pool and also the best shoes to throw on for a quick trip to get some ice or just walk around your hotel room. I keep a pair in my suitcase, always ready for my next Disney trip!
Tank Tops and Short Sleeved Shirts
Simple tank tops and short-sleeved shirts are great options for a sunny day this time of year. I like to grab a few with my favorite characters for my Disneyland vacation. Mickey Mouse shirts are easy to find at Amazon, Target, or Walmart for your Disneyland vacation.
Shorts
A few pairs of comfortable shorts are always a good item to include in what to wear to Disneyland in July. I personally prefer shorts that are quick-drying and super comfortable. If you visit the parks on a regular basis, you know that you will be doing lots of walking! Make sure your shorts are long enough to keep you comfortable throughout a long day in the parks.
I love these Columbia quick-drying shorts which also feature sun protection! The great thing is they mix and match easily for multiple Disneyland outfits.

Light Jacket
You can pair a simple tank or T-shirt with a light jacket or a jean jacket if you need one more layer. It’s a great idea to have some light layers, just in case cooler temperatures come about at night time or early morning. Whether you are exploring Disney California Adventure, Disneyland Park, or Downtown Disney, you want to be comfortable, no matter the temps!

Swimsuit and Cover Ups
It’s always a good idea to throw a swimsuit and cover-up in your bag for a Disneyland trip. Build in some pool time and enjoy one of the best things about Anaheim, the California sunshine! The kids will love some pool time too!

Sunscreen
Of course, the most important thing for any packing list where you will be outside for a good portion of the day is sunscreen. Whether you are on Main Street watching a parade or exploring Cars Land, sunscreen is an essential part of your packing list for theme parks in July.
The good news is you can also find sunscreen for sale in your resort or at the parks, but you will pay a premium for it. Just remember that if you are flying to Disneyland, you cannot have spray sunscreen in your carry-on bag. I have seen many clients lose their liquid sunscreen at security, especially during the summer months!
Sunglasses and Hats
Continuing with the sun protection theme, remember to protect your favorite sunglasses and hats to protect you from the sun’s rays. In general, there aren’t many rainy days in southern California, so be prepared for the sun’s rays.

Park Bag
Don’t forget a great park bag for your trip to Disneyland. Use your common sense when selecting a bag. You want a park bag that is light and comfortable, with straps that are easy on your back and shoulders. Of course, you want it to coordinate with your perfect outfit and Minnie ears, but comfort is the name of the game at Disneyland.
Refillable Water Bottle
A refillable water bottle is an essential item on your Disneyland packing list, whether you are traveling in the winter months or the summer. It is easy to get dehydrated and distracted in the parks. You can ask any cast member at a quick-service dining location for a free cup of water, at no extra cost to you. Consider refilling your water bottle, any time you stop for a restroom break or at a dining location. Stay hydrated for your best Disney day.

What should I do before my Disneyland trip?
Consider consulting a travel agent who specializes in Disney vacations before you start planning your trip! We can help you select a resort, manage park tickets, and make dining reservations. The most essential piece is making sure your park reservations are in place well in advance of your trip. The worst thing is to purchase tickets and then discover you can’t get into Disneyland or California Adventure!
We can also help you secure tickets for special events, like the Oogie Boogie Bash in the fall or Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party in the winter. The best part is we can offer our expertise at no additional charge to you!
