Are you considering a cruise with tweens soon and wondering about the Edge Youth Club on Disney Cruise Line? Here are some answers to the most common questions I receive as a travel advisor specializing in Disney, Disney Cruise Line, and Universal Vacations. Remember that we can help you choose the best itinerary, ship, and stateroom for your family, at no additional cost to you!

What is Edge on Disney Cruise Line?

Edge is a kids’ club for tweens, for the age group of kids 11 to 14. Disney Cruise Line also offers Oceaneer Club and Lab for kids in the age range of 3 to 10. The teen clubs include Vibe for teens ages 14 to 17 and 1820 Society for older teens 18 to 20 years old. Usually, Edge is open from around lunchtime to midnight, offering plenty of activities and lots of hang-out space for the tween set.

Which activities are available at Edge on DCL?

Activities vary every day in the tween club, but kids will generally find crafts, games, gaga ball, board games, video games, and scavenger hunts. Kids will be welcomed with ice breakers on the first night to feel more comfortable with each other.

Our tween loved prepping for Pirate Night in Edge by practicing a dance number, flash mob style, on our last cruise. Cast members also plan meet-ups on different parts of the ship throughout your cruise and on Castaway Cay.

Do parents sign kids in and out of Edge?

Unlike the younger kids’ Oceaneer Club and Oceaneer Lab, kids can sign themselves in and out of Edge once parents register them online during their cruise check-in. You can easily keep track of your kids via the Disney Cruise Line app with the messaging feature which activates while on the ship.

Where is Edge on Disney Cruise Line?

Edge is located in a different spot, depending upon the ship class. On the Disney Magic and Wonder, you will find Edge on Deck 9, midship, not far from the pool deck (a hit with our kids who love the soft serve ice cream near the pools!)

The Disney Dream and Fantasy house Edge near the forward funnel on deck 13. Kids, ages 11-14 year olds, can take a hidden stairway or elevator directly to the club. This is a fun location for kids, as it feels tucked away from the rest of the ship.

The newest ships, including Disney Wish, Treasure, and the future Triton class ship, have Edge on deck 5, aft. These Edge clubs are the largest of all the Disney Cruise Line ships, with plenty of room for the kids to spread out.

Can kids older or younger than the Edge eligibility go to the club?

Disney Cruise Line has become stricter about age restrictions for kids and clubs. You can always ask a cast member if your child can attend a different club if they are a year above or below the cut-off, but it is not guaranteed they will be allowed to visit.

Who watches your kids at Edge on Disney Cruise Line?

Edge is staffed by Disney Cruise Line cast members who enjoy spending time with the tween set! Cast members from all over the world can lend to some awesome conversations! They lead games, and activities and plan fun meet-ups for the kids while cruising.

What’s the decor at Edge?

On the Magic and the Wonder, the Edge space looks like a retro boiler room. The Dream and Fantasy have more of a modern twist with contemporary furniture and amazing huge windows. The newest Edge clubs on the Triton class ships feature a cool loft feel.

What are the hours for Edge on DCL?

In general, Edge will be open from 10 AM to midnight. However, be sure to check the DCL Navigator app to get the latest hours and event activities.

Can adults and other kids visit Edge on DCL?

Adults and other kids can take a closer look during Open House hours. Feel free to visit Edge on Disney Cruise Line, along with all of the other kids’ clubs. There will be Open House hours on Embarkation Day so cruisers can check out all of the kid spaces. Additional Open House hours can also be found throughout the cruise on the app.

What do tweens enjoy on Disney Cruise Line?

Tweens love to hang out and chill in the Edge space. If they want to join in the games, video games, a dance party, crafts, or other activities, they are welcome to do so. Who can resist a lighted dance floor? However, if they would rather just chat with their new friends, that’s also totally fine. It is a pretty relaxed structure for tweens.

Other activities abound on the ship for your tweens and teens. On our recent cruise, our kids loved watching movies on Funnel Vision or in the theater, hanging out at the pool, eating unlimited ice cream, and exploring the ports. Of course, they still love meeting the Disney characters too!

I hope this post helps you know all about the Edge Youth Club on Disney Cruise Line. Disney cruises are one of our favorite family vacations, ensuring relaxation and fun for both parents and kids! Sign up for my free packing newsletter and keep reading for more great travel content.
