Are you planning a trip to the Disney parks soon and wondering where to find Star Wars characters at Disney World? If you are a Star Wars fan, a visit to Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Galaxy’s Edge is essential during your trip. You can spot your favorite Star Wars characters and explore Black Spire Outpost and the Millennium Falcon. You can even drink some blue milk and green milk at the milk stand! Enjoy your visit to Planet Batuu as you enter a galaxy far, far away in Star Wars Land!
Where is Galaxy’s Edge at Hollywood Studios?
As you enter Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Galaxy’s Edge is located to the left of the park. As with all of the Walt Disney World parks, this is one of the most themed lands that the fans of the Star Wars universe will love. The entire land immerses fans into Galaxy’s Edge and the Planet of Batuu.
Walt Disney Imagineering really outdid themselves with this great place. The good news is that both those familiar with Star Wars history and the original series and those who have never seen any of the Star Wars movies will be impressed. Both Disneyland Park in California and Hollywood Studios at Disney World fully immerse you into the world of Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader.
Cast members will direct you towards Galaxy’s Edge, but in general head straight down Hollywood Boulevard from the park entrance. You can turn left and go around Echo Lake towards 50s Prime Time Cafe or keep going and turn left near the Frozen Sing-Along Celebration Entrance. You can also turn left at Commissary Lane near Sci-Fi Dining and the ABC Commissary restaurants. Signs throughout the park will direct you to Galaxy’s Edge.
Star Tours: The Adventure Continues
On your way to this relatively new land, you will pass the classic Star Tours: The Adventure Continues attraction. This ride features some of your favorite characters from Star Wars. Riders board the Starspeeder 1000 and C-3PO takes over. The Imperial, or the First Order, comes aboard to look for a Rebel spy. You start a fun 3D ride throughout the galaxy.
Every adventure on Star Tours is a new one, as the story line changes each time. You will see some classics like Kylo Ren, Boba Fett, Poe Dameron, Princess Leia, or Jedi Master Yoda. Though this is not one of the new attractions in Galaxy’s Edge, if you are a fan of George Lucas and Star Wars: The Last Jedi, you should plan a ride on Star Tours. Typically the line for this ride doesn’t back up as much as the newer, more popular Star Wars attractions, so save this for later in the day.
Who Can I Meet? Where to find Star Wars characters at Disney World
It’s important to know that the time period for Galaxy’s edge is from the Star Wars sequels. Characters appearing are from Star Wars: The Force Awakens forward. So, you won’t be meeting older popular characters like Darth Vader or Luke Skywalker in Galaxy’s Edge. Also, character interactions are often out and about instead of traditional meet and greets.
During the day, you will often find Kylo Ren on stage near the TIE Echelon ship. A First Order officer and Stormtroopers surround him. You will also often see the First Order Stormtroopers walking through the park. They are very interactive with the crowd, talking to you and often followed by Kylo Ren.
Characters walking through Galaxy’s Edge will often be found near the TIE Echelon ship, across from Droid Depot and Savi’s Workshop, or near the Millenium Falcon. Chewbacca is often seen around the Land, so you can spot him after a ride on Smuggler’s Run or a drink at Oga’s Cantina.
Rey is another of the character sightings you can find while walking around Galaxy’s Edge. I have often seen her engaging with guests throughout the land, making her a favorite of my daughters. Vi Moradi can also be spotted in the area near Docking Bay.
Star Wars Launch Bay: Where to find Star Wars Characters at Disney World
You will also find some of your favorite Star Wars characters at the return of the traditional character meet and greet location at Star Wars Launch Bay. Star Wars Launch Bay is located in the Animation Courtyard area of Hollywood Studios. Here, you can meet Chewbacca, BB-8, or Darth Vader.
At Star Wars Launch Bay, you. can also find costumes, props, and concept artwork from the Star Wars story line. There is also a short film documenting the making of the films. If you have a Disney Visa, you can also find a special photo opp for Disney Visa cardholders at Star Wars Launch Bay.
Rides in Galaxy’s Edge
Any visit to Galaxy’s Edge in Hollywood Studios must include a ride on Rise of the Resistance and Millenium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run. On Smugger’s Run, you will take part in flying the Millenium Falcon! Your job will be as pilot, engineer or gunner and Hondo Ohnaka will guide you in your mission. We love this ride and any rider over 38 inches can participate! Also, take advantage of the single rider line if you are willing to be split from your party, as it moves very quickly.
The fantastic Rise of the Resistance ride is worth the hype. This is a huge ride with multiple components. The Resistance is gathering participants for a secret mission, and you become a party of the action in this galactic spectacular.
These rides do attract long lines, so be sure to talk to your travel planner to see if purchasing Lightning Lane access is worth it during your travel dates. A good plan to visit them either during Early Entry or with Lightning Lane access is a good idea.
I hope this guide helps you know where to find Star Wars characters at Disney World on your next visit! If you are a super fan, also check into a trip to the Galactic Starcruiser. On this adventure, you have a two night stay on the Galactic Starcruiser. Here, you may encounter Captain Riyola Keevan, Lenka Mok, Mechanic Sammie, First Order Lt. Harmon Croy, Astromch Droid SK-360, Raithe Kole, Ouannii, and D3-09. This is the perfect vacation for the ultimate Star Wars celebration.
