What should I pack for Disney World in June?
The first thing to remember for a June packing list for DIsney World is to be sure to pack for warm weather. From my personal experiences on summer Disney World trips, you will need:
- shorts
- bathing suit
- tank tops
- short sleeved shirts
- sun hat or ball cap
- sunglasses
- tennis shoes
- sandals
- sundresses
- bathing suit cover up
- goggles
- flip flops
- favorite Disney character shirts or dresses
- toiletries
- underwear
- pajamas
- small umbrella
- poncho (check the Dollar Store for these)
- rain jacket
- hand sanitizer
- refillable water bottle
- Magic Bands
- park bag
- credit cards
- ID
- hotel reservation confirmations
- portable phone chargers
- camera
- cell phone
- Lysol wipes
Check the weather forecast before you leave. My favorite app for weather in Central Florida is Accu Weather. Be sure to input Lake Buena Vista for the most localized forecast for the parks.
You may want to add long-sleeved shirts to your Disney World packing list if you see cooler evenings or mornings in the forecast. I do not think you need many long-sleeved shirts or pants with the summer heat, but it is always good to double-check.
Is it too hot for Disney in June?

The average high temperature for Orlando in June is 91 degrees F. With the humidity, it can feel like it is close to 109 degrees. So, yes, it is hot! The best way to beat the heat this time of year is to plan to rise early. Grab your Genie+ reservations (pay for this extra skip-the-line service) at 7 AM and hit the parks as soon as they open.
If you stay at a Walt Disney World resort, you will be able to take advantage of Early Entry hours. If you stay at deluxe Disney resorts, you may also have some extended hours in the Disney parks throughout the week. Make sure your My Disney Experience app is up to date and check park hours in the app. All special events hours will also be listed here.
A lot of people will wait and enter the parks closer to lunchtime, so you will see long lines beginning to form by late morning. Make some dining reservations or mobile orders from a quick service restaurant for late morning and take a break. Dining indoors is a great way to get away from the hot weather and high crowd levels.
Also, be sure to pack a reusable water bottle in your park bag and stay hydrated. Be sure to keep sunscreen on yourself and every family member. I like to do this before we leave the hotel room for the theme park or water parks so I don’t forget. A hat is also a great idea to protect yourself from the Florida sun.
We also like to pack portable battery-operated fans or paper fans to stay cool in the hot weather. Be sure to add one to your June packing list for DIsney World.
Do I need park tickets for Disney World?

Yes! Be sure to purchase park tickets in advance for your Disney trip. As soon as you purchase your tickets (or have travel agents specializing in Disney World do it for you), go to your My Disney Experience account and make park pass reservations for each day you plan to visit. (Park pass reservations will end for most guests in early 2024.) This includes Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, and Epcot. This is the most important thing to do!
You can pick up tickets at Will Call at the parks, use your Magic Band once they are linked to your My Disney Experience account, or use Disney Magic Mobile to add them to your Apple Watch or Apple wallet for easy access. Magic Bands are an additional charge and Disney will soon be releasing a new upgraded version of Magic Bands called Magic Bands+ with enhanced features.
Can you bring a backpack to Disney World?

Yes! You can bring a backpack to Disney World. Think about packing a portable battery charger, a reusable water bottle, hand sanitizer, snacks, gums, candy, a hat, sunscreen, and perhaps a change of shoes in your bag.
If it is hurricane season or rainy season, it can help to have a poncho or small umbrella packed. If you are using a stroller, also consider packing a poncho and clothespins to cover your stroller, in case of rainy weather. Even in this magical place, there is a good chance you will experience some rainy days in the parks.
An umbrella can also help provide some shade during particularly hot and sunny days.

Does Disney give free water?

Yes! You can get free ice water from any quick-service restaurant or water fountains throughout the park. Take it to refill your water bottle or drink the cup right there. Remember, for many rides, you can’t have open cups in line, so be sure to finish it before you enter.
If you are unsure of where to find water, ask a cast member or customer service in Guest Relations. For a good time in the warm weather of Orlando, stay hydrated!
Are strollers allowed in Disney World?

Yes! Strollers are allowed in the Disney parks. Be sure to tie a bright bandana or another type of marker on the handle. Strollers may be moved by cast members from where you leave them, so it makes it easier to spot them.
Even if you have older children, consider bringing or renting a stroller. You will be doing a lot of walking, so your kids may get a little bit tired! Using a stroller is an easy way to keep kids motivated when they need a break, and they provide a nice place to sit for parades and waiting on fireworks. It can also help transport snacks and water bottles in the parks.
I also use stroller hooks to hang water bottles and bags from the gift shops onto. You will be amazed at how much you can use them!
What should I pack for my children in Disney World in June?

If you are traveling with small children in Disney World, you will want to add a few items to your packing list. Beyond packing a stroller, you may also want to pack a baby backpack.
If your little one has a favorite character, consider packing a themed shirt. These are great for conversation starters when meeting the characters face to face. Autograph books and clickable Sharpies are perfect to throw in the park bag for character meet and greets.
Visit the Dollar Store and purchase some light-up wands or glow bracelets. If you plan to visit the nighttime parades and shows, this can save you some money!
Also, throw in your child’s favorite snacks and a sippy cup. If your little one has a favorite lovey, don’t forget that one! Lollipops or a favorite candy can keep spirits up during the day.
Sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses, and a fan are essentials for little ones as well. Baby care centers located throughout the parks can give you a quiet place to nurse, change diapers, or just take a little nap. They are also well stocked with first aid items, diapers, diaper creams, and medications if you need them.
As you plan your day with little ones in Disney World, remember to take breaks and even consider heading back to the hotel for a mid-day break, if needed. Even though it is an incredibly exciting place, Disney World can be very loud and overly stimulating for young children. You will have to prioritize their needs during a trip with little ones, even over favorite rides and meeting characters.
What shoes are best for Disney World?
Be sure to add comfortable shoes to your packing list! My favorites are tennis shoes and waterproof sandals. I avoid flip-flops because I don’t like them to slide off during a rainstorm. My favorites are Adidas sneakers and Keen sandals. Stay comfy!
Can I do laundry at Disney World?
Yes! Laundry facilities are available at Disney World resorts. If you are staying off-site, this is a great thing to research before you go. If you are able to use the washer and dryer, consider adding laundry pods and dryer sheets to your packing list.
I also like to pack collapsible laundry bins or laundry bags to keep our hotel room nice and tidy. It is also great to have one for shoes in the hotel room. You can find these at the Dollar Store or Amazon.
