1923 dining menu

If you are heading out on the Disney Wish soon, you are in for a treat! The Disney Wish cruise ship is a beautiful vessel, first in the “Wish” class in the Disney Cruise Line fleet, along with the Disney Destiny and the Disney Treasure. It is one of the larger ships with DCL, accommodating over 4,000 passengers and 1,555 crew members. In my personal opinion, the Disney Wish has some of the best dining options with DCL.

1923 is an upscale dining restaurant included in your rotational dining restaurants, honoring Roy and Walt Disney’s legacy. It’s an elegant celebration of the company, included in your dining rotation at no additional cost. Both kids and adults will find delicious options here! Keep reading for all you need to know for your next Disney vacation!

The Story Behind 1923 on the Disney Wish

1923 gets its name from the year of the beginning of the Walt Disney Company. There are actually two sections of 1923, one for Walt Disney and one for Roy Disney. The vibe is elegant Art Deco design with a nod to the classic age of animation. You will find tons of Disney props, artist’s sketches and memorabilia from the Disney company. Be sure to take time to look at it all-more than 1,000 pieces!

I love the dark paneled walls, the cushioned seating, and the dim lighting – full of classic Hollywood glamour. It gives it an elegant vibe that is unique in the rotational dining restaurants. I also love the beautiful 1923 china and stemware used throughout the restaurant, giving it some Hollywood glamour.

The Menu: 1923 on the Disney Wish

The 1923 diverse menu shows its California cuisine influence (the golden state where it all began) with a fusion of cultural flavors from South American cuisines to European to Asian. The menu includes lots of fresh fruits and veggies, seafood options, and global flair. The menu offers 3 courses: starters, entrees, and desserts, as do all of the rotational restaurants onboard.

Appetizers include Ahi tuna with oyster mushroom and black sesame brittle, tortellini with Meyer lemon, baby spinach and sun-dried tomato, Burrata mozzarella cheese & prosciutto, and Kingswell duck confit pastille. Salads are also delicious – a fennel salad with Bartlett pear and Manchego cheese or a Romaine salad with heirloom grape tomatoes and Caesar dressing. Soups include corn chowder or a roasted Roma tomato soup. Bread service is a yummy fig and olive bread with honey butter dip.

My favorite of the entrees is the peppered filet mignon with long green beans, smoked bacon and fingerling potatoes. The rack of lamb is also fantastic! Other options include pasta with Prosecco cream, mushrooms and shallots; salmon fillet with Californian wild honey parsnip puree and orange fennel essence, roasted chicken with Brussel sprouts, Honeycrisp apple chutney, and Yukon potato fondant, or a lobster salad.

1928 offers vegetarians great options including Moroccan-spiced kabocha and butternut squash with brown rice, couscous, pita and yogurt or soft shell tacos with quinoa, poblano, sweet bell pepper, salsa fresca, feta cheese, pickled red onions and cashew cream. Lots of California flavor!

Still hungry for dessert? The Burbank blueberry-lemon Bavarian cream is amazing! But, if you love ice cream, the Hollywood Hills Hot Fudge sundae with fresh whipped cream is a hit with our family! 1923 also has churros, fudge brownie bites with vanilla ice cream, flourless orange almond cake, and apple cheesecake.

There are also allergy friendly and lighter side menu items available as well, still made with local ingredients from the restaurant’s Californian heritage.

The kids menu at 1923 includes many classic kid favorites and new hits like:

  • roasted tomato soup
  • Goofy’s garden salad
  • chicken pot pie
  • mini cheeseburger
  • panko-crusted cod
  • pepperoni pizza
  • grilled beef tenderloin
  • whole wheat pasta and tomato sauce
  • chocolate chip cookies
  • Mickey ice cream bar

Rotational Dining on the Disney Wish

1923 is one of the three main restaurants onboard the Disney Wish. DCL uses rotational dining, meaning that you will rotate to the different dining rooms but keep the same serving team. When you board the ship, check the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app to check the order of your rotation. Rotational dining is so fun because your servers become a part of your family by the end of the voyage!

The Wish also includes Worlds of Marvel and Arendelle (Frozen Dining Adventure) for your rotations options. Quick service options include Marceline Market (buffet) and Mickey & Friends Festival of Foods.

Tips for Enjoying 1923 on the Disney Wish

Be sure to either get to 1923 early or stay a bit later to enjoy all of the memorabilia. If you are a Disney fan and the golden age of animation, you will love getting to see so much memorabilia from all of the fantastic Disney movies from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs to Frozen!

Another great idea is to ask your server when 1923 is open for a sit down breakfast or lunch. These times of day tend to be less busy in the restaurant and give you plenty of time to look around.
