I find that having some easy recipes for soup offer nutritious family meals with relatively easy clean up! Of course, talk to your pediatrician before adding solid foods to your children’s diet. Be sure to rule out any possible allergic reactions before serving.

Easy Tomato Soup for Toddlers
One easy soup recipe is the kid-friendly soup of classic tomato. This is also one of the best soups to start with young toddlers, since it is pureed well. Even little ones under 12 months of age can try this one! Serve this with some grilled cheese strips for the perfect meal of comfort food!
The best part? The easiest tomato soup recipe is just three ingredients. Simply toss 3 tablespoons of butter into a Dutch oven. Allow it to melt slightly and toss in one small onion sliced. Add 1/2 teaspoon salt and allow to soften slightly. Do not overcook the onion.
Add one large can of tomatoes, either diced or whole. Then, add 1 1/2 cups of chicken stock. Simmer and cook uncovered for about 30-40 minutes. Use an immersion blender or food processor to puree the soup when cooked through. Add ground black pepper, if desired.
Serve this delicious soup with grilled cheese sliced into small squares for your toddler, if your little one is ready for solid food. Your whole family will love this one!
Chicken Noodle Soup for Toddlers
If your little one is ready for solid food, then chicken noodle soup is a great way to provide a nutritious meal. It is one of the best soups for our entire family. Chicken soup is also the perfect comfort food for sick days.
I usually make this one into a slow cooker recipe if I remember to set it before I head out for the day. To prep chicken noodle soup, I throw 2-3 chicken breast pieces into the crock pot and add 1/2 teaspoon salt and 1/2 cup of water. Set it to high for 3-4 hours and then it will be ready to shred.
Next, melt 1 tablespoon butter or olive oil in a large saucepan over medium heat. Add 1-2 stalk celery chopped and diced and 3 chopped, diced carrots to the butter. Add 1 small onion, diced. Allow the veggies to soften along with 1/2 teaspoon salt and 1/4 teaspoon black pepper. Add the sauteed veggies to the crock pot. Add 2 cans of chicken stock or homemade chicken broth to the crock pot, along with the sauteed vegetables.
When you have 30 minutes or so before dinner, add 1 package of egg noodles to the soup and allow to soften on high. If you can find some cute ABC noodles, you can use those instead to create your own healthy alphabet sop!
Chicken noodle soup is the best way to serve softened healthy vegetables to little ones. You can easily serve your toddler the softened chicken, veggies and egg noodles without the broth as well or just a little bit of broth. It is also a great way to introduce young children to lots of different textures in their food with healthy soups.

Easy Carrot Soup for Kids
Ahh, carrot soup is another one of our favorite healthy soups. It is so delicious and an easy way to sneak veggies into your toddler’s diet. This is another simple soup that you can serve with grilled cheese toast for a delicious lunch or dinner.
To prep this easy soup recipe, chop one large onion and saute in 2 tablespoons of butter. Do not let the onions carmelize, just soften. Peel and chop 2 pounds of carrots into bite sized pieces. (Save any leftover carrots for healthy snacks!) Add a dash of salt and pepper. Cook until softened.
Add chopped carrots and 1 teaspoon of dried thyme (or any dried herbs you prefer.) Add four cups of vegetable stock or chicken stock to the mixture. Cover and simmer for 15-20 minutes until carrots soften.
Use an immersion blender to blend until you like the consistency of the soup for your little one. If you want to add even more to this creamy soup, try adding different vegetables. You could add softened butternut squash, sweet potatoes or sweet corn to the mixture.
If you like an even creamier soup, add a splash of heavy cream, coconut milk or sour cream to the final product. This is one of our family’s favorite healthy soup recipes!
Mexican Black Bean Soup
Easy black bean soup is another of our delicious recipes combining lots of vegetables with fiber-rich black beans. My secret weapon to a quick soup with easy cooking methods? Use canned black beans! Just be sure to drain and rinse them with plain water before cooking. Just one cup of black beans contains 15 grams of fiber…a great thing to help all developing digestive systems.
To start the black bean soup recipe, begin again with sauteing one diced carrot, one diced stalk celery and one diced large onion with 1 tablespoon olive oil or unsalted butter. Cook until softened.
Add one clove minced garlic and be careful not to burn the garlic. Stir in 3 cans of black beans, drained and rinsed. Add one 32 oz can of vegetable or chicken stock and 1 tablespoon of cumin. I also like to throw in a bay leaf, but that is optional. Sprinkle with black pepper and salt.
Allow soup to simmer for at least 30 minutes to develop flavor. Take out the bay leaf and blend with an immersion blender. If you want to use a regular blender, just be sure to allow the soup to cool slightly before adding a bit to the blender. I usually only blend about half of the soup to leave some texture.
Serve with grated cheddar and sliced avocado. Big kids and grown ups might like some cilantro and tortilla chips as well! Add some cheese quesadillas and you have a great way to serve up a delicious dinner!
